If there was ever anything he hated it was this part of himself. He'd been enough of a disappointment to his family before he was a mutant. Being an omega on top of it had been like, the final blow. In the end he hadn't been shocked at all that his family had abandoned him.

At least, with time, he had managed to learn how to deal with his... unique status. How suppressants hadn't worked on him. How he couldn't control any of this shit. The only advantage was that, as a speedster, his body worked different from that of most other people. It wasn't like he smelled so much like an omega. Not like he acted like one. So it was fine, right?

He was fine. This was fine.

Except... It wasn't. It wasn't even remotely fine. The worst part of not being able to predict your cycles is when you find someone. Someone great. Someone from another world who isn't an alpha or an omega or anything. So of course Tommy had, as soon as he'd realized what was gong on, locked himself in his room. Easier to pretend that no one was there to deal with him, to need to deal with him. Shutting himself away to deal with it was easier, especially when he'd stocked his room with food and water and snacks and other... necessities. Toys to make it easier, to help it pass.

The only issue with this heat? Well, it often drove a lot of logic out of his mind. Like the part that would remind him that he had long since given James a key to his room. Just in case he got stupid and refused medical treatment after a mission. His room where Tommy was on his bed, naked and writhing as he stroked himself, not yet ready to deal with the slickness between his legs.

James might have spent the last few days getting a very fast sexual education and thoroughly putting it into practice - but he was still himself. And he blushed right on cue, but laughed too. "Well. I mean that would be okay too." James had yet to find anything about sex he DIDN'T like, top bottom or no one in either position. There had been something sort of ... primally satisfying about being inside Tommy and filling him up while he wanted it, yeah. But that didn't mean James didn't really like everything else, too.

"You're sure?" Tommy asks, shocked. Because, well, that wasn't something Alphas like. They want to fuck, not get fucked. Wow, it's wonderful. It's totally possible the guy won't be like other Alphas.

James just didn't have the same context Tommy did. He might be an Alpha, but he didn't know what the stereotypes for that were supposed to be, mostly. So he just shrugged behind Tommy and kissed his neck again. "Yeah? I like everything we've done to me, and however you touch me. When you used your fingers, after the stuff we got on us, it felt really good. It'd feel good if it wasn't your fingers, too." And Tommy liked it. Plus James just liked the ... connection part of sex, too. Maybe it was dumb as sappy, but he liked feeling that close to someone else that you could be inside them, or have them inside you. It felt ... real? Or at least vibrant or something like it. "If you don't like something, I don't want to do it, and if we try it and I don't like it, I'd tell you? But I wanna try everything you want to do with you."

"Geez, how are you so fucking perfect?" Tommy asks, twisting in James' arms to look at him very seriously.

"I... We haven't had a chance to have a single first time that we've had in our right minds. I think I'd rather save this one special thing."

"Genetically inherited serum?" James said dryly. But he hugged Tommy close when he turned and cocked his head, smiling. "I'm not. But I mean ... if I'm perfect for you, then I'm really glad. Since you're perfect for me."

His smile went soft and warm. "Yeah," James agreed. "Whenever you want. I'm all yours too so ... you can take what you want when you want?" He blushed but his smile was a little teasingly flirtatious too. "Just don't expect me to STAY in my right mind though? I kind of never do when you touch me."
