Yeah, okay, fair point. I'll admit he makes it work better than he has any right to, but I still think he'd be better off in clothes that made him look like a real boy. If you know what I mean.
Nah, I get it. We've got money, and my dad travels. Sort of makes his money as a very charming sort of conman, I guess? I know it's not the same. But we're not the sort of rich like Gansey and the kids I go to school with, either. All yachts and vacations in the Hamptons and crap.
[Which isn't a lie, even if it's also not quite the truth- but it's somewhere in the middle, where he doesn't feel like he's lying, or betraying that reminder to don't tell his father had extracted from him one sunlit morning a few years ago.]
Yeah, they are. My brothers were the only friends I had before I met Gansey. And- well, Kavinsky too, I guess.
[That's definitely something more than friends though, even if he hasn't found the words for it yet.]
Not sexy clothes, I just mean like- tshirt & jeans. Gansey's cool and all, but he's like a statue or something. A different species. Someone's fairytale prince or some shit.
[Not Ronan's, being the implication.]
Kavinsky is.. I dunno. He's good, even if no one back home really saw it. And he gets me. I didn't think anyone else ever would.
[He sort of almost wants to tell Tommy, who has powers that are far flashier than Ronan's. But he's been told to keep it secret for so long, it's difficult. But after a moment he asks anyway, even if it feels like unsteady ground--]
Are there other people like you where you're from?
Statue? I've known people like that. Like young Vision.
Hey, I've known fairytale princes. It's entirely possible he is.
[It's a shame Ronan doesn't tell him, because honestly Tommy would be one of the least impressed people here over it. Given his brother it would just be another day.]
Like me? Well there's definitely Uncle Pete. Then the Beaubier twins but that's cheating because they fly too. Then you get your non-mutant speedsters and they're a whole other thing, usually some sorta device or alien tech or cosmic powers. Like, there are more people like me than there are people like Billy.
I wouldn't put it past Gansey honestly. He's got a quest and everything.
[Gansey's always seemed a bit like a storybook character, something from one of his mother's tellings of the old Irish myths Ronan was raised on. His allergy to bees like a strange sort of geas that Ronan couldn't help wanting to save him from.
Tommy is just so matter of a fact about it, that it hardly feels like a secret. He still asks K about it first, but it feels less like breaking a promise when he types it.]
Until I met K, I'd never known anyone like me aside from my dad. And he would never talk about it- just wrapped it up in pretty lies.
[Lie isn't quite a dirty word yet, because Niall is still alive to tell them.]
One of the first I remember was when I was small and my older brother had to haul me out of a fire because I brought back a flaming sword. I thought it'd be really cool.
And still no one would talk about it. I guess they thought if I didn't have the words -- maybe it'd be easier to hide?
[At sixteen he's still upset about it. It becomes the fuse ignited by Declan's lies, even if it isn't Declan's fault. He's still figuring out the shape of what he can do.]

Something like that. Never heard anyone use the word mutant back home tho.
But I can bring back my dreams back with me.

So you're like Billy then. Cool.
