I mean, he seems holier than thou, but that isn’t always bad. I think my ‘uncle’ is heading to see my ‘Aunt’. Meet at my place and we’ll find somewhere abandoned.
A little while passes before Gar finally shows up, knocking on Tommy’s
door. He is really more concerned with the need to drink a lot of beer than
actually fucking shit up but that won’t hurt either.
Who said anything about beer? Sometimes you've gotta go hard. Tommy opens the door, a bag tucked under his arm. Vodkas, man. Flavored vodkas. He' been making candy vodkas for himself lately.
"We shall," Gar says and his usual smile isn't present. He'd been a bit moodier than usual for a while but with the whole confession he's been worse. Which probably accounts for him fighting with Dick in the first place.
Gar nods and he moves to get onto Tommy’s back then, arms and legs tight around him. On a normal day he’d be stoked but now he just wanted to get somewhere else and drink.
Well, he's a good little monkey. Tommy moves and in less than a minute they're in the old abandoned dome that Tommy had used for his haunted house back in October. And then he stops.
“Some problems don’t get solved,” Gar says and he takes a drink. “I’m old
enough to send into a fight against psychos but I’m not old enough for a
beer.”
The last straw had been being treated like a child.
“Dude, I’m not saying that,” Tommy says, hands up defensively. “I’m saying getting wasted doesn’t make talking to people you need to talk to easier. Usually it just gets people taking swings and hurting other people. Drinking is better for celebration. Or to relax.”
"I didn't want to talk to him in the first place, not about all the stuff he doesn't know yet. He doesn't need to know and I didn't... I can't talk about all of that... After everything he just made me feel small."
It's more than just what Cadmus did.
"I just don't want to feel all of this," and he still does even if he's not telling Dick about it. The pain, the grief, the trauma? The trauma that's older than Titan Tower, all of it. He holds it all in and he's tired of feeling.
And he hates that he feels that way -- that he can't just shrug and smile and act like himself. "Okay?"
"I know," Tommy assures him. "I don't think I'm a very good person. I know I have to keep smiling or my family is going to be worried. And my team is going to judge me. You do what you can, to get them to put up with you."
And sometimes that means lying to and about yourself.
Gar does follow and really he's feeling a little lighter but drinking is definitely going to aid in that further. He's still pretty sure about everything that'd happened, the confession, the fight with Dick? It was all shitty.
